Maintenance Mechanic

As a WG-9 Maintenance Mechanic with the National Park Service at Point Reyes, your major duties will include:
Performs a variety of maintenance tasks in assigned functional areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, masonry, and roofing. Constructs, alters, modifies or repairs a wide range of features in buildings, quarters and other facilities. Constructs and/or repairs storage areas, workrooms, and offices within existing buildings including framework, rafters, joists, insulation, sheet rock, paneling, doors, windows, shelving,stairways, roofs and flooring. Matches or creates exact reproductions of various components of historic buildings and fixtures. Works from complex instructions, building plans and codes, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope fall, and proper operation of systems and equipment. Independently plans, lays out, and completes installations, modifications, and repairs to include materials needed to complete projects. Performs plumbing installation and repair work in the construction or maintenance of buildings. Installs or repairs electrical systems required in the construction or maintenance of family housing units, buildings, quarters, offices, or shops. Makes repairs that can be accomplished by removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, soldering, and insulating defective wiring, controls, equipment, and fixtures such as broken and bare wiring, burned out switches and relays, loose connections and fittings, damaged light fixtures, and poorly operating thermostats. Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers, and lay out of such things as angles, arcs, and circles. Lays sewer tile, replaces stools, lavatories; and replaces pumps and water meters. Performs all phases of painting for interior and exterior surfaces of offices and buildings, family dwellings and other structures. Operates various power and hand tools such as portable drills, clippers, joiners, shapers, sanders, power activated nail guns, buffers, combustion type saws, routers, band and scroll saws, and drill presses, etc. Maintains, constructs, repairs, and alters a variety of masonry structures and surfaces of brick, block, stone, and other related materials such as retaining walls, head wall structures, decorative walls, walkways, exhibit bases, patios, foundations, fireplaces, etc. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A MAINTENANCE MECHANIC WG-4749-09 WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION (SCREEN OUT). Possession of a Valid Driver's License (Screen Out) Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc. Use of Measuring Instruments Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, Etc. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
